Lead Install Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Lead Install Technician is responsible for the on-time, high-quality installation of HVAC/R equipment, duct systems, fittings, grilles, registers, diffusers, controls, and related equipment. He/she must identify and solve problems that might impede the completion of work within budgeted time. He/she provides feedback and suggestions to supervisors, salespeople, and others on ways to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction. Complete approved repairs/improvements in a timely manner. Complete required paperwork and collect any payments as needed. Leave a clean, orderly beautiful installation, and make our customers delighted so they will always call us for their indoor comfort needs.

Essential Functions

  1. Follow defined installation procedures for HVAC/R equipment according to company instructions/policy, manufacturer installation instructions, and salesperson notes
  2. Identify and solve problems that might prevent the completion of work within budgeted time.
  3. Serves as and main contact between company and customer.
  4. Complete repairs, improvements, or installations within budgeted hours, in accordance with company standards, while maintaining quality.
  5. Start-up new equipment and verify correct operation.
  6. Clean equipment and work area. Leave a beautiful installation.
  7. Ensure complete customer satisfaction and/or salesperson/supervisor sign-off upon completion of work.
  8. Lead, coach, and supervise Assistant Installation Technician. Provide sufficient knowledge, skills, training, and information to achieve peak performance, continuous improvement, and a positive, productive work environment consistent with company goals and objectives
  9. Complete all paperwork required by management and record hours and all materials used. Collect payment for work performed, if applicable.
  10. Ensure all company equipment and supplies are removed from the job site and returned to the company.
  11. Keep assigned service vehicle organized, clean, and stocked properly.
  12. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  13. Drive company vehicle to and from job sites.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position will be subjected to extreme weather and environmental conditions. The work environment noise level is usually moderate but will vary occasionally. The work environment will subject employees to continual interruptions and changing priorities. Effective, consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some extension of regular hours is expected during seasonal influx of business.

Travel

Daily travel to and from job sites is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  1. 3+ years of install experience in HVAC company.
  2. May require vocational education or the equivalent experience.
  3. Leadership experience
  4. EPA Certification
  5. Must have valid drivers’ license and be approved by insurance company to drive company truck.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. HVAC company service experience.
  2. Prior install experience.

Other Duties

  • Must be in possession of a legal Driver’s License and maintain a safe driving record
  • Clean driving and criminal records as required by state laws for home service companies and by company insurance carrier(s)
  • Must be courteous and respectful to customers and coworkers
  • Must be respectful of company property and follow safe handling procedures for large items
  • Maintain a neat, clean appearance representing the company in a positive way
